The Postcarding Group of Rise Up Frederick is committed to harnessing the power of hand-written, short messages on postcards year-round. We strategically focus on efforts that help Democratic candidates win, get Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters to vote, further issues of importance to Democrats, and are most likely to benefit from the 1%-2% difference that postcards make.
We are now up to 52 members of this group! Thanks to all who have expressed interest and have signed up.
Since 4/1 when we supported Judge Susan Crawford in the WI State Supreme Court race, 7 of us have written 305 postcards for FL vote by mail registration, the Scranton City Council and School Board races, candidates for the VA House of Delegates, and efforts to get Democrats to call their Republican elected officials to complain about cuts to Medicaid and tariff policy.
Can we write more postcards?
See our June focus below.
Activate America: They are continuing their innovative and pressure-building accountability campaigns to ask Democratic voters to call their Republican elected officials and complain. Last topic was Medicaid (still relevant today) and the new topic is the horrible effects of tariffs. There are several options to choose from; I recommend AZ, PA, WI or OH. They expect this campaign to end June 15. Here's the link: https://www.activateamerica.vote/postcards
Postcards4VA: There are still a few addresses available for Karen Carnegie and May Nivar for House of Delegates in VA. Remember to scroll to the end of the available options, and only select one of the last 3 that don't require a special (that is, expensive) postcard. These say "require labels" but you can write the content of the label if you don't want to get labels and print them. Here's the link: Postcards4VA
We need to keep track of what we accomplish. I will share these metrics periodically. So please remember to let me know the following:
What postcarding group you are writing with
What campaign of theirs that you are supporting (e.g., writing to PA Rep. Perry about Medicaid cuts)
How many postcards you wrote
Date you put them in the mail
Only if you tell me what you did (and any friends too that you have recruited for this effort) will we be able to know the full impact of our work. And knowing the impact is inspirational!
I purchase postcards in bulk and then make them available to you at cost or below to make them as affordable as possible for local postcard writers. Postcards from my last order of 5000 are available for 3 cents each. I will bring some to each Rise Up meeting in case anyone wants some.
