Rise Up Frederick supports informed civic engagement. We believe it is appropriate – and important – to educate ourselves and our community about efforts to dismantle democracy and equal rights for all people. We share information about policy positions, legislation, or public actions related to these issues. We want people to understand what is at stake so that individuals can make an informed decision guided by their values and conscience. To that end, Rise Up Frederick will not provide an endorsement or a suggested slate of candidates for any election.
From time to time current elected officials may be invited to speak at a Rise Up meeting on matters related to their service. Those running for office are welcome to provide written materials to the group. They will not be given time to speak on their candidacy, nor will their information be published on our social media platforms.
Information or listening sessions by current elected officials can be publicized on our Facebook Group. Information or listening sessions by those running for office (of any party) can be shared by individual members on the Rise Up Facebook page, Facebook being the vehicle whereby members can share a variety of sources and opinions for conversation. Facebook Group posts requesting volunteers or donations will be declined.
