We are a group of dedicated volunteers stepping up to provide vital advocacy and robust community support for our immigrant neighbors. We are committed to protecting their rights and ensuring their visibility as valued members of our shared community.
We partner with local non profits and other grassroots organizations to support our immigrant community through mutual aid and political advocacy.

From the site: "287(g) is a federal-local partnership that authorizes a local law enforcement agency to perform duties of the federal Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement (ICE), an agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)"
Also: "The people arrested and processed through the 287(g) program are overwhelmingly nonviolent, and are pretextually arrested for traffic offenses so they can be questioned about their immigration status at the jail, have immigration proceedings initiated against them, and then deported."
Frederick County in 2008 was the first to introduce this program to Maryland. Since then, over 1500 Frederick residents have been processed for deportation, the majority apprehended for non-violent offenses.
CASA is a national organization with offices in Maryland that works to improve "the quality of life in working-class: Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant communities" (from the site)
